Pedro Garcia-Bengochea is a seasoned leader with over 35 years of experience in pastoral ministry, mental health counseling, and community engagement. He became a Christian while attending the University of South Florida, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration. He later pursued a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), specializing in trauma. Pedro's ministry experience includes over 34 years of leadership, with 16 years spent leading in the Lighthouse Region of the Los Angeles Church of Christ (LAICC), where he provided pastoral care and counseling across diverse cultures.
Pedro and his wife, Laura, have been married for 35 years and have two adult children. They lived abroad for ten years, serving as missionaries in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico City, planting churches, teaching, and training ministry leaders. Pedro is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, which has been invaluable in his cross-cultural ministry.
In addition to his pastoral work, Pedro has contributed significantly to mental health services, serving as a Youth and Family Therapist with the Youth Crisis Center and Clinical Counselor with the Children’s Home Society of Florida. His passion for helping at-risk youth and families shaped his dual career in spiritual guidance and mental health advocacy.
Currently, Pedro serves as the Senior Director of Church Relations at HOPE Worldwide, where he works to deepen global engagement and empower churches to act on the needs of a hurting world. His leadership continues to inspire and equip others to create lasting, positive impacts on communities worldwide
